Summer fly fishing trips in Colorado

Summer Fly Fishing Trips in Colorado
Summer is the most popular time to grab a fly rod and hit the streams in Colorado.  Late May and June can have unpredictable stream flows, but with over 60 private areas to fish, as well as lots of public access, we can always find some great trout fishing!  This season the high water fly fishing has been fantastic on the South Platte River.  We also offer a variety of high mountain lake and other still-water trips in late May and June for anglers looking to get away from the higher stream flows.

Mid-late summer is DRY FLY TIME!  Once the water flows start to drop and the water warms a bit, anglers can start to expect more consistent dry fly action.  On the right day anglers can fish a variety of summer hatches–Stoneflies, Caddis, PMD’s, Green Drakes, Trico’s, Midges, Hoppers, Damsels and more. Although dry flies are not appropriate on every trip, there are lots of great opportunities to fish dry flies and dry droppers!
