SOUTH PARK RESERVOIRS

Spinney Mountain Reservoir is a 2,450 surface acre South Platte River impoundment located between Antero and Eleven Mile Reservoirs in South Park. It is owned and operated by the City of Aurora. Colorado Parks and Wildlife maintains and operates recreation facilities and access during the ice-free season.

Antero Reservoir is smaller and shallower than Spinney (2,000 surface acres) but also boasts an incredible population of trout and insect life.  Denver Water owns the reservoir but CPW manages it.  The Brown Trout population here is so impressive, the state uses this waterbody to collect its Brown Trout eggs for their hatcheries.

SOUTH PARK LAKES

SPINNEY, ANTERO AND ELEVEN MILE RESERVOIRS

Do you want to chase some of the largest trout in the state?  We are excited to offer guided trips on the best trophy trout reservoirs Colorado has to offer!  We are fully insurance and permitted to target these fish from boats, giving you a unique fly fishing trip you won’t soon forget!

Spinney Mountain and Antero Reservoirs are managed to provide trophy trout fisheries. This allows our anglers a chance to catch the fish of a lifetime. These desolate high plains reservoir have exceptional insect life as well as an abundance of crayfish that the large trout love.

Northern Pike were first introduced into Colorado in 1956 by the Colorado Game and Fish Department and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.  With optimum spawning conditions, Northern Pike have been naturally reproducing almost every year and eating lots of the small trout.

Tiger Musky have been introduced into Antero Reservoir to help control the sucker population while not being able to reproduce (they are sterile unlike Pike).

We guide the South Park Reservoirs with commercial use permits from both Colorado State Parks and Denver Water.

Spinney Mountain Reservoir can be a great fly fishing trip on its own or can offer exciting fly fishing action to anglers fishing the South Platte in South Park Colorado it they want a change of pace.
