Fly Fishing the South Platte River at the Dream Stream
The spring migratory run on the Dream Stream this year was one we will be remembering for years to come! Solid river flows out of Spinney Reservoir combined with healthy lake conditions in Elevenmile Reservoir led to not only a bunch of fish moving into the river system but some very large ones as well.
As a reminder, we never target fish on spawning redds. This is extremely unethical and terrible for the future of the river. But the fish that migrate into the South Platte River can be ethically targeted prior to them actively spawning. These fish can be very difficult to find, target, and make eat. After all of that, you still have to land them and they are usually full of fight as when they are in the lakes, they just eat and swim.
