Guided Fly Fishing at Rawhide Ranch
Rawhide Ranch is located on the North Fork of the South Platte, just downstream of the town of Bailey. With over 2 miles of river and 400 plus acres, Rawhide Ranch is the largest and most scenic of the North Fork properties. Being downstream of Bailey means you are away from highway 285 which further increases the amount of wildlife we regularly encounter on this special property.
To go along with the mountain experience is the fantastic fly fishing that Rawhide Ranch boasts. 5 years ago the property underwent a multimillion dollar restoration project that was designed and built by Clint Packo and his team at Freestone Aquatics. They are the best in the game and resulting streamwork on this property proves it. With the always volatile flows out of Roberts Tunnel, you can have a great fly fishing experience at Rawhide Ranch with flows anywhere from 50 cfs to 650 cfs. You won’t find the boring, out of date weirs on this property. It is the most natural looking streamwork that features riffles and runs to give fish a range of feeding and holding water.
Inhabiting this impressive property are fish up to 10 lbs! These fish will regularly take nymphs, streamers, and even dry flys in certain river flows. The fish population is mostly rainbow trout but on our guided fly fishing trips to Rawhide Ranch we have also landed cutthroat trout, cut bows, brown trout, and tiger trout.
The property is broken down into 3 beats. Each beat has a restroom and a lunch area. Have a corporate or large group trip? This is the property for you! The middle beat is the largest and has a 4 person minimum, but with groups of 6 or more we can reserve multiple beats. We have hosted groups of upwards of 20 anglers and everyone still has plenty of water to fish. Fair warning, availability here is at a premium!! We have nearly a 100% customer return rate here with many guests choosing to rebook their same dates the follow year right when they leave. We are currently taking 2023 reservations for guided fishing trips at Rawhide Ranch.
