Dream Stream

The day started clear and cool with a bit of a breeze. Most of the large crowds of people have dispersed as many Colorado waters are open and fishing well now. We took advantage of this and had the run of almost anywhere we wanted to fish. The large migratory fish were not overly abundant, but because there was not much pressure from other anglers, we were able to move around and target some bigger fish.

Both nymphs and streamers were effective, although most of the hookups were sight fishing with nymph rigs.  We did have to work hard for the fish, but we were rewarded with a good number of hookups on fish from 17-24 inches. See the pictures to the left for some of the beautiful fish that came to hand!

The next 2 days we fished some private waters on the South Platte and had exceptional action with many more impressive fish.

In trout news: The warmer weather is improving the fishing daily.  Most of the areas we guide are now fishing very well. In the next
couple weeks the high lakes will be icing off, making some hot action! Spinney Reservoir opened May 1st and all the South Park
Reservoirs are now fishing good.

Great looking South Park Rainbow!

Amazing color on this big fish. Great job Steve!
