Weather: Day 1 very cold in AM warming, through the day.  Day 2 warmer with cloud cover.

River Condition: Water temps in upper 30’s.  Low and clear water conditions; 75 cfs.

Report:
Spring Fly Fishing! The weather was cold but the trout didn’t seem to care.  On this trip, a father and his two sons braved some chilly weather to get into some red hot spring fly fishing.

Day one was very cold in the morning.  There was some ice in the river when they started, but after some instruction on nymph fishing
they were soon hooking and catching lots of rainbow trout.  The rainbows are in big groups or pods right now, establishing dominance before they go into the spring spawn.  Nymph fishing was productive on both days, with fish taking small attractor flies as well as small nymphs.

Fishing is best mid-day as the water warms.  The water temps are raising 3-5 degrees during the day, prompting some very good mid-day feeding activity.
