Spinney Mountain Reservoir:
Spinney Mountain Reservoir is a 2,450 surface acre South Platte River impoundment located between
Antero and Eleven Mile Reservoirs in South Park.  It is owned and operated by the City of Aurora.
Colorado State Parks maintains and operates recreation facilities and access during the ice-free
season.

Spinney Mountain Reservoir is managed to provide a trophy trout fishery.  This allows our anglers a
chance to catch the fish of a lifetime.  This desolate high plains reservoir has exceptional insect life as
well as an abundance of crayfish that the large trout love.

Northern Pike were first introduced into Colorado in 1956 by the Colorado Game and Fish Department
and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.  With optimum spawning conditions, Northern Pike
have been naturally reproducing almost every year and eating lots of the small trout.

Spinney remains a great spot to spend a day; just be sure to check the local weather report for wind
and weather conditions before setting out for your adventure.

Spinney Mountain Reservoir can be a great fly fishing trip on its own or can offer exciting fly fishing
action to anglers fishing the South Platte in South Park Colorado it they want a change of pace.
